The publications division of PMR (www.pmrpublications.com) commissioned PMR Research to conduct the survey "The construction market in Poland 2004". The survey covered 107 largest Polish construction companies (by 2003 sales revenue). The respondents were managers of marketing departments and other management personnel responsible for sales policies at the surveyed companies. Telephone interviews were completed in July 2004.
The key objectives of the survey included:
- to assess the current situation in the Polish construction sector
- to provide a forecast of financial indicators key to the construction market (including: construction and assembly output, building material prices, length (in kilometres) of completed highways, etc.)
- to assess the financial standing and review investment plans of the largest Polish companies in the sector
- to gauge the impact of Poland's accession to the European Union on the functioning of construction companies. In addition, PMR Research asked its responders what they thought of changes in VAT rates applicable on building materials
- to pin-point factors which in the opinion of responders are necessary to succeed on the Polish construction market
- to define the greatest barriers to conducting business in the construction sector
- to obtain an opinion on what the government should be doing to improve the situation in the Polish construction industry.
