In May 2006 PMR Research was commissioned by JETRO (The Japan External Trade Organization) to analyse the Polish luxury foods and beverages market. JETRO is a Japanese government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.

The report was prepared using PMR MarketInsight, PMR’s proprietary methodology applied in the preparation of reports analysing the situation in individual sectors of the economy. The research covered official statistics on food and beverage consumption, food and beverage prices and the general macroeconomic situation in Poland. It relied also on industry and press sources, PMR's in-house databases and the internet. Additionally, 22 in-depth interviews were carried out with the owners and the management of distributors and retailers operating on the Polish luxury food market.
The key aims of the project were:
- to estimate size of the Polish luxury food market
- to provide information on the individual sectors of the market
- to analyse distribution network of the Polish luxury food market
- to provide a list of Polish distributors and retailers operating on the analysed market and a list of the main Polish food and beverages trade fairs
